WHY WORK AT BURNAMWOOD?

Covenant-Signs-3Burnamwood summer camps are absolutely a ministry for campers ages 1st grade through 12th grade. To be a summer camp staff member, your top priority coming into work should be to care for each camper’s well being and safety as they enter a Christian camping community. For our campers, Burnamwood is an extremely special place and the summer camp staff play an important role in facilitating a unique, positive environment.

If you’re ready to unleash your creative spirit, be flexible when the need arises, live as a strong and positive role model, and create a fun and safe atmosphere for campers of all ages, then prayerfully consider spending your summer as a Burnamwood summer staff member!

ENCOURAGEMENT

Covenant-Signs-4

Burnamwood is a place for everyone! Not only will you be encouraging your campers in their spiritual and social development, but you will be encouraged in your individuality, as well as supported in your own spiritual life. Throughout the summer, you will get to work alongside board members, alumni, volunteers, and of course -a unique and friendly staff who will be there for you every step of the way. Every day is a new adventure at camp, but you will have people behind you, encouraging you when you say “YES!” to trying something new.

HEALTHY LIVING

Spend your days being active, exploring the beautiful 500 acres of Burnamwood! Between hiking in the creek bed, around camp or up to Parrett’s Peak, swimming, boating, sports (including Quidditch), Shaving Cream Wiffle Ball, OutPost, and New World Order – you’ll never spend your time just sitting around at camp. As a summer staff member you’ll play an important role in leading and facilitating recreation, helping instill an active and healthy lifestyle for all campers and hopefully yourself  all summer long!

TEAMWORK

Staff-Intro-CITEach staff member plays an important role in making camp a one-of-a-kind experience for each camper. Staff members will hone their abilities to work successfully as a team by collaborating with your colleagues and developing strong relationships with co-workers. Each day in Burnamwood summer camp life is accomplished because of the dedication of the whole summer camp team.Ultimately, staff members teach campers about the strength of teamwork by building a positive community within themselves.

BE A PART OF A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY

Burnamwood staff put their faith into action. By working during the summer in the midst of God’s natural creation, you will have the opportunity to live in and foster a community that prides itself on the values of peace, love, and tolerance. From worship to teaching, leading devotions and discussions, you will have the opportunity to aid campers with their own faith journeys and grow as a spiritual leader.

LEARN NEW SKILLS

Throughout the summer, you will have the opportunity to grow as a person, as well as a leader. Working at Burnamwood will give you the chance to learn a variety of skills: cooking over a campfire, behavior management, analytical thinking, leadership training, conflict resolution, teaching, and much more. You will learn how to meet new challenges in a positive and productive manner.
